Office Updates & Shell Charger Progress: Welcome to the 171st Metamorphosis Monday!

Greetings!  How was your weekend?  What did you work on this weekend?  Do anything fun?

I have a couple of small little updates to share this week for Metamorphosis Monday.  I decided to remove the TV from the office since I found I only turned it on a couple of times a month.   You can see it in this older photo to the right of the wallpaper organizer, beside the lamp.  I guess I hadn't added the ottoman yet when this pic was taken.

In place of the television, I have a new little file organizer.  Sorry this pic is a bit dark; these photos were taken after dark.

Pottery Barn Home Office, Craft and Sewing Room

I found the organizer at Marshalls for just $24.99.  (They also had it in black in case you are looking for something similar but need it in black.)

Pottery Barn Home Office, Craft and Sewing Room

The top section holds a folder filled with notes on things I need to work on.

Pottery Barn Home Office, Craft and Sewing Room

The bottom section is where I stash away things needing to be filed.  This has worked so much better than having stacks of little papers and post-it notes squirreled away on my desk.  The file organizer came with the "to do" and "to file" labels already in place.  Pretty cool!  I've really enjoyed having it here on the desk.

Okay, here's a pic this morning during daylight hours.  For those who have been asking about Mr. Max, this is his fave spot to be, furring up the ottoman. ;) I have another little update planned for this room...hope to share it soon.  (If you're new to reading BNOTP, you'll find the full transformation of this room from boy's bedroom to home office/sewing room/craft room in this post:  Pottery Barn Bedford Office Renovation.)

2nd Mini-Metamorphosis:  Pottery Barn Knock-0ff, Shell Chargers:

Recently, I came across some Pottery Barn Shell Chargers I really liked on eBay.  They ultimately sold for $233 dollars, way more than I was willing to invest!  I decided to try and make my own.   This weekend I worked on the other five chargers and here's how they are looking so far.

Pottery Barn Shell Chargers Tutorial

The one I completed for the previous post is there on the back row in the center.  The others have their biggest shells glued in place and I've just started the process of filling in with the smaller shells.  I'm happy to report that it's definitely going faster now that I kind of an idea of how I want to place the shells.  Yay!

So hopefully you'll be seeing these in a table setting sometime in the next few weeks.  You'll find a little tutorial for making these here:  Pottery Barn Knock-off Shell Chargers.

To get your permalink, click on your post name, then just copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar at the top of your blog, into the "url" box for InLinkz.

In order to link up, you'll need to include a link in your MM post back to the party.

If you'd like to include the MM button in your post, just copy and paste the Met Monday button to your computer or grab the html code from underneath the MM logo under the "BNOTP Parties" header at the top of this blog.

PLEASE DO NOT type in all caps...it spreads the links waaaay out. Thanks!

Let's try something fun today! Please visit the person who linked before you and after you...that way everyone will get some visits. Hope you'll visit more, of course.

Welcome! Thanks for coming to the party!

Love your pretty space Susan! Isn't it wonderful having a creative space in which to do projects like your chargers which are lovely by the way! Though my space isn't finished completely, it has been nice to sit down at the sewing machine and whip up a few little projects for baby shower gifts- (found one of the projects on pinterest- pee pee tee pees- they're a hoot!

Hi Susan...

Your new file rack is sweet and I love the pretty decorated folders...such a pretty design and color! I just adore your craft/office...I'm sooo envious, my friend! It has been so much fun watching the metamorphosis of that beautiful space!

Love, love, LOVE your new shell chargers! I too, seen the chargers in Pottery Barn and thought they were really pretty...and also at a pretty price. I love how your finished charger looks...GREAT JOB, my friend! I seen a similar charger some time ago...but I don't remember where. At the time I thought that it could be made. What a fun project. I would love to do a set up too! Thank you for always inspiring us, Susan! And...thank you for hosting another week of Met Monday! So happy that I could join in with the fun today.

Love ya,
Chari

Thanks for the party, as always!

Your office folder organizer certainly fits right in -- and the coordinated folders are so cool.

Your shell chargers look great! I bought the PB ones years ago, (they are wicker based) and now seeing your white ones, I think I might have to whitewash them a little. The color has darkened quite a bit over time. I can't believe they sold for that much on eBay! They certainly didn't cost that much at the time!

There you are Mr. Max, have missed seeing you! Susan, I really like your organizer, even the file folders match the colours in your chair!! :)
You have certainly been busy with those chargers, they look amazing. No wonder you do not have time to watch t.v. in that room!!:)
BTW, your chandelier provided me with inspiration. I had picked up from a Goodwill market, a five armed cream one for my gazebo tent outside. It was missing the glass globes which hung downwardes. Not needing this for light, I was wondering what to do about the open bulb holders, so.....I bought some faux flowers and covered the chandelier, pushing large daisylike flowers in the holders. My hubby just shook his head..but I like it!! :)

Great little wall organizer - what fun you'll have changing out file folders now and again. And I am amazed at how you are coming along on the chargers - what a dramatic statement the finished set will make.

Megan, awww, thanks for noticing that. I tried to find some folders in the right color, although these are a bit too bright. Your chandelier sounds adorable! I bet it's perfect in your gazebo...what a great idea! Too funny about hubby. ;)

We didn't do it on purpose but I can see the TV in the great room from my office so I can sort of watch if I want to. I have to tell you that I LOVE those chargers and am really tempted to give them a try. I have poor small motor skills though and I can almost feel the burns from the glue gun as I imagine making one! Maybe after I see them in a tablscape it will put me over the edge and I will give it a try!

Robin, they are easy to make but I do seem to burn myself every once in a while...not fun! My relationship with hot glue is definitely a love/hate relationship. ;) Love how it works, hate those burns!

Susan, with every addition your office gets lovelier. I wonder if you pause in the doorway to just admire your beautiful space. I hope so! I also admire all the work that you are putting into the shell chargers. I think yours are nicer than the original inspiration, and can imagine how well they will go with your shell enhanced bottles. I suspect that we will be admiring both in a future tablescape. Thank you for sharing with all of us. MM

I love seeing those chargers in your home office/craft room as a "work in progress". Love your vertical file, too, except it makes me feel guilty about all the "to file" items I have stuffed in my desk drawers.

Not that you've spoiled Max or anything but I do think it's a bit much to give a cat his very own Ottoman Empire....
